SPRING IS IN THE AIR (You just can't feel it yet !)
March always feels like a transition month when we move gradually – I mean g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y – from winter towards spring. We are also getting closer to moving our clocks forward again on 28th and perhaps enjoying slightly longer days. Mother’s Day on the 14th is a great opportunity to spoil Mom – maybe a hamper of SA goodies to remind her of home ?
All of us at Biltong Direct were a-buzz waiting for customers to claim their mystery discount for February, but the buzz ended up in a quiet hum as orders continued to come through without the discount being claimed. Shop customers who quoted the discount code at the counter were pleased to save on their shopping. The discount code will be changing from 1st March to “daffodils”. They should start flowering through the month, bringing a lovely yellow ray of sunshine to the gardens and roadsides around us, using the code to claim your discount should put a spring in your step too.
Easter Eggs are filling the shop shelves and being scooped up by parents trying to satisfy their chocoholic children BUT – what about Mom and Dad – we have just the thing to remind parents of times gone by. We now have our Hen’s Eggs and Marshmallow Eggs in stock. Why not surprise the kids and give them a chocolate ‘boiled egg’ on Easter morning ! Don’t be complacent though, our first delivery have already sold out and the wholesaler has gone through half his stock, so they really may not be here for long. Unfortunately when stocks run out, that’s it until 2011.
Last month we spoke about nurturing our South African roots but quite a few people are also trying to convert their friends and workmates so that they too enjoy our foods. Have you thought of hosting a South African day in your office – a dish of Babotie, wors rolls, biltong and droewors for them to try – you may be surprised at how many British people are getting hooked on our tasty snacks.

Last week we heard from Natalie who arranged a South African Day at her office and we can report a number of new converts - but there were complaints because she didn't take any Castle beers along.

Tailpiece .....
The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. "Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer; she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, he's a doctor.'"
A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher; ...she's dead."
